What this skill changes
Belonging without boundaries becomes self-erasure. Boundaries without dignity become domination. This skill holds care and limits together.
The four-part practice
- Name what belongs to you: body, time, money, attention, consent, and responsibility.
- State the limit in one clear sentence.
- Name the consequence you can actually carry out.
- Leave room for the other person to choose their response.
Field exercise
Write and speak one low-risk boundary using: I am available for..., I am not available for..., If this continues, I will....
No completion form
You do not prove this skill by filling boxes. Practice becomes real through behavior, reflection, repair, and repetition.
Evidence of growth
Growth becomes visible when your limits become clearer, shorter, less apologetic, and less dependent on controlling another person.
Safety and scope
Boundary
Use professional, legal, workplace, domestic-violence, or emergency resources when a boundary involves abuse, stalking, coercion, threats, or immediate danger.
